The Film...

Editing...

We used Ulead Video Studio to edit the film. We made sure the shots flowed and we had accurate continuity. We realised during editing that the door had been left open when he had walked into the room but was shut later in the scene, to solve the problem we recorded the sound of the door closing and edited it into the video. The video starts with a fade from black, we kept the cuts simple from one shot to another with a fade to black as the end. We experimented with dissolving between shots but chose not to use this in the final film. The end result was just under a minute long.

Filming...

Once I had completed the storyboard I had a good idea of what I wanted to include in the film.

We were in a group of four for the filming and using a Frankenstein script, we comprised the dialogue for the scene and were ready to film.

We filmed each shot several times to ensure we got it right, thinking about composition and the 180 degree rule. When we were happy with what we had shot we were ready to edit the film.

Storyboard and Shot Types...

The first thing we did in media was to look at the use of camera shots and angles in films and dramas. I studied three films and three TV dramas, noting what camera shots were used and what effect they had.

We were set the task of creating a short film involving someone walking down a corridor, entering a room and having a conversation. Using what I had observed from the films and TV dramas I began to story board the film, thinking about what shots could be used. I wanted to use a variety of shot types, ensure continuity and make use of the 180 degree rule.
